Steven Hu has been attending The River since 2004. He began as Pastoral Intern or "Rookie Pastor" in February 2010 before taking on the title of Pastor of Spiritual Discovery in September 2011. His job consists of a lot of on-the-job learning and applying what he has learned from books and classes (at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary) to real life situations. " I have a passion for evangelism in all its forms and hope to help infuse the River with that."
Before coming on staff at The River, Steven worked at Roche Pharmaceuticals while attending seminary. When it became apparent that he needed to quit Roche to finish his degree, the company decided to shut down operations at his location and offered him a severance package. God's provision and timing allowed him to leave his company, begin his internship at The River, pay for school, and continue his quest to eat at all the taquerias in the South Bay.
Steven is newly married (in January 2010) to his wonderful wife Grace. He enjoys the game of basketball, playing catchup on ABC's Lost, cooking, and playing Settlers of Catan or similar board games.
