Advent Worship Night

When: Tuesday, December 7th from 7 to 8:15 pm
Where: The River Ministry Center

As we look at the Gospel of Luke we see that some people longed and ached for Jesus coming while others had difficulty receiving Him even after he came. It was difficult even for Mary and Joseph to receive the news at first. Our Advent Night of Worship will be centered on us receiving anew the birth of Jesus and His anticipated return as Christ the King.

This is what Advent is all about. The word Advent means "coming" or "arrival." The focus of the entire season is the celebration of the birth of Jesus the Christ in his First Advent, and the anticipation of the return of Christ the King in his Second Advent.

Advent also symbolizes the spiritual journey of individuals and the church community, as they affirm that Christ has come, that He is present in the world today, and that He will come again in power.

Advent is marked by a spirit of expectation, of anticipation, of preparation, of longing. Hopefully within each one of us there is a deep longing for deliverance from the evils of the world both individually and corporately. Part of our evening will focus on those who’ve experienced the tyranny of injustice in a world under the curse of sin, and yet who have hope of deliverance by a God who has heard the cries of oppressed slaves in the past and brought deliverance!

The evening will also include worship, silent reflection, thanking God for Christ's first coming to Earth as a baby, and for his presence among us today through the Holy Spirit. If your hope has been faint as of late and God seems distant, come join us in hopes of coming present to God in the midst of your longing for renewed hope for yourself and others.

Please know that all are welcome to this event. Please feel free to bring friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, for this time of worship. Contact Pastor David Alvarez with any questions you have at
