Call and Response

Call and Response Banner

Call and Response is a new movie being released that addresses human trafficking in America. The movie alternates between documenting the nature of human trafficking in America and concert footage of US and British musicians playing songs they wrote in response to slavery and oppression. It's a rock-umentory that is both educational and inspirational.

The River has the opportunity to contribute to the abolition of human trafficking by helping to support Call and Response.  Not only is the movie raising awareness about the issue, but any money made by the production team is being donated directly to organizations that are fighting human trafficking.  If Call and Response can create some buzz opening weekend, it can appear in more theatres and for a longer run.

The River has bought 100 tickets for opening night Friday Oct. 10th as well as Sunday night Oct. 12th. The movie is playing in San Jose at the Camera 3 Theatres at 288 South 2nd Street. The River's tickets are gone for friday night, but there's still some left for Sunday afternoon at 2:45.

If you have reserved your ticket for either showing, come to the theatre 15 minutes early to pick up your ticket. Krista-Dawn will right inside the theatre at 2:30 on sunday to pass out your reserved ticket.

There will be a chance to debrief the movie with Brad at the Ministry Center (701 N. 1st St.) over snacks after Sunday's showing.

Our hope is that you will consider attending the movie and inviting some a few friends to go with you. This is an excellent opportunity for small group leaders to get inspired for another Missional Risk, or anyone who is trying to figure out ways to have gospel conversations with their non-christian friends and co-workers. The movie (not produced by Christians) makes a compelling case about a pressing issue of justice that everyone can agree is wrong and needs to stop, and provides the added benefit of listening to some great music from folks like Switchfoot and Natasha Bedingford.

We will be showing the trailer on sunday morning, but you can also see it at here: www.callandresponse.com
