Loving San Jose - March 2009

On March 29th, The River hit the streets of San Jose. Over 200 church members participated in 10 service projects. See below for a list of projects.

Service Projects:

SJSU Handouts— Krista-Dawn led a team that assembled gift packets for SJSU students.

Car Wash— Pastor David led a group to the ministry center to host a car wash.  

Handing out doughnuts and coffee at First St and Santa Clara downtown
— a group went to bus stops and other spots to offer coffee and doughnuts to those waiting and living on the streets.

Baskesto Park clean up and water handout— Rick Schertle took a group to a park downtown to pick up trash while Elaine Hays + crew passed out water to those at the park.

InnVision Art project — Jill took a group to InnVision where they led residents in an Easter art project.

Intercession— Our head pastor Brad led a time of intercession.  The group walked around SJ praying around significant buildings and about other issues facing our city.

Care packages and yard clean up at Heritage Home— Kyle led a group to Heritage Home (where pregnant women who have no where to go live) to hand out care packages and do some yard clean up. 

Survey on Financial Crisis — Tony organized several groups to go out to gather information on how the community thinks a church could best respond to the financial crisis.

Homewood— Julie Priest took a group to Homewood (a facility for the elderly) to offer flowers, prayer, and conversation.
