Men's Retreat
If we are truly honest with ourselves, we know that we have frequently experienced that sense of desperation. Most of us, when we feel that sense of quiet desperation engulfing us, immediately distract ourselves by turning on the TV, going online, or find something “to do” to not have to face the desperation within. We run and hide from our desperation and our hearts to find something that gives us a sense of meaning and importance. But sooner or later, perhaps in the dark and quiet hours of the night, the feeling of desperation returns.
Our minds are flooded with thoughts. This neurotic process of the mind doesn’t allow us to see clearly or listen to the still small voice that speaks peace to the chaos within. Our quiet desperation hopefully will begin to thaw as we take some time to come present to Jesus’ offer of peace.
