Servant Partners Interns

The Washington Neighborhood has six new residents! Chelsea, Heather, Justin, Erika, Kayla, and Marco have moved into the 'hood just a few blocks from the River's community garden and the Washington Elementary school. They come from all over: two from Indiana, two from California, one from Hawaii, and one from Guatemala. All have just graduated from various colleges, and are ready to embark on a new journey of learning experiences of incarnational ministry in San Jose! Janet and Andy Singleterry, long-time River Church leaders, are staff with Servant Partners and will be leading these six interns in a season of urban ministry training. The internship will last 22 months, and the River will be their church home while they get their feet wet experimenting with ministry among the urban poor.
The River Church has been committed to the Washington Neighborhood for the last few years, and the interns will hopefully come alongside the ministry that has been ongoing. Pastor Tony will be mentoring the interns and giving them ample opportunities to partner with our church. The team, in addition to working full-time jobs, will study the book of Luke in their first year and Acts in the second, and have training in preaching, exploring their spiritual gifts, and living in community as they minister to their neighbors. In years to come, we hope that God would use us and the Servant Partners internship classes to bring about transformation in the neighborhood.
