Paz y Esperanza
Asociación Paz y Esperanza (Peace and Hope) is a Christian human-rights organization dedicated to the promotion of justice and economic development for poor communities in Peru and Ecuador. The River has a vibrant partnership with Paz y Esperanza in Huánuco, Peru where Paz is engaged in a fight against an epidemic of sexual violence against children and domestic violence against women.
In the past few years, teams from The River have made trips to help Paz's team of lawyers, investigators, therapists, community organizers and pastors to make systemic change to the justice system in Huánuco. In addition, River families helped purchase a six acre organic farm that includes a new shelter and therapy center for abuse victims. During a recent trip, the team helped put on a seminar for law enforcement officials in Huanuco to underscore the seriousness of sexual abuse.
