bLoG32: She came without warning...
Sep 16, 2009
I was coming home late. I was tired and my head ached with hunger. My house was within shouting distance and I was ready to be home. My car came to a stop. A woman ran up to my window. “Do you speak English?” She was holding her large belly and clearly in pain. “Can I have a ride?” What do you say? You are tired and irritable, ready for the comforts of home. Everything in me wanted to not be having this conversation. So, I said, “Come on in. How can I help you?”
The woman was pregnant. She was in pain. It reminded me of Mary with child wondering whether an Inn Keeper would welcome her in. More recently, I have reflected on Mary’s faith. She has become an inspiring model to me. An angel shows up, tells her crazy news and all she says is “I am Yahweh’s servant.” Oh that I was so faithful!
…And so when my car pulled up to that stop sign and I felt, tired, hungry and crabby, I said, “come on in" and drove her where she needed to go.
