Kids’ Community Volunteer Spotlight:  Karen Cassel

Karen Cassel

Karen Cassel serves with the Infant community.

Why is The River Church Community your church?

From the first time I visited over 9 years ago and up to today, I have always felt at home at the River.  The River has strengthed my beliefs in God and helped me realize that I must rely on God in all that I do.  It's not always easy to do but it's good to get the reminder once in awhile.

Why do you serve in Kids’ Community (and for how long have you served)?

I have always enjoyed playing with babies and seeing them learn new things.  As my friends at the River had babies, I saw volunteering with Kid's Community as way to interact with them more often.  I have served in the infant room for at least three years and have loved every minute of it.  It's always exciting (and sad too) to see the infants move up into the next age group and change rooms.

Do you have a favorite story about serving (or you can paint a picture of a favorite experience)?

I don't really have one favorite story.  There are just too many to mention.  I just love seeing the infants grow and learn new skills.  Its always exciting when one of them is just learning to walk and you get to experience that along with the parents.
