Student Ministry Weekly Update, April 26 - May 2nd
May 01, 2009
Parents,
This last Sunday we ended our series on Peacemaking. Our last topic was titled, "The Freedom of Forgiveness". To help us identify with forgiveness and what it looks like we watched a clip from the movie, "End of the Spear". Since this movie is based on a true story, the youth were amazed by the forgiveness of Steve Saint toward the man that killed his father.
The scripture we looked used was Ephesians 4:32. We looked at how Jesus forgives us, how we should forgive others, and receive forgiveness from others. Although the youth understood why we should receive forgiveness from someone, they were challenged by four promises that we should make to that person. Those four promises are:
1. To think good thoughts about you, and do good for you. Phil. 4:8 and Luke 6:27
2. Will not bring this situation to use against you. 1 Cor. 13:5
3. Will not talk to others about what you did. Prov. 26:20
4. I will be friends with you again. Matt. 6:12
The youth felt that these would be difficult, because it's the difficult thing to do.
This coming Sunday we begin our new series titled, "Searching for the Truth, How Christianity Compares to World Religions". I will be handing out a Student Booklet this week. They can read this book during the week to gain a better understanding of the religion we looked at.
