Student Ministry Weekly Update March 22 - 28

Mar 27, 2009

Parents,

This last weekend was action packed.  Friday night we went bowling and grabbed some yogurt afterwards.  Saturday, 21 guys went down to Morgan Hill for paintball.  Don't worry girls, we are going to have a time of paintball for everyone in a few weeks.  On Sunday morning we talked about Peacemaking and headed to my house for lunch and small group.

Thank you everyone that was able to make it out to all the activities this last weekend!  We had a great time connecting, laughing, and eating.

This last Sunday we continued to look at what it means to be a Peacemaker.  Specifically, we talked about, "The Five A's for Resolving Conflict".  The 5A's we talked about were to, Admit, Apologize, Accept responsibility, Ask for forgiveness, and Alter your choices.  Our text for this lesson was Matthew 7:3-5.

Small Groups:

After church we headed to my house for sandwiches, chips, and soda before breaking up into small groups.  The girls stayed at my house and hung out over fondue!  The guys were jealous!  Although the fondue was Lauren's idea, she wasn't able to make it!  Thank you for a great idea!  The guys headed to the school across the street to play ultimate frisbee.  When the guys walked back to my house, the girls blessed us with leftovers.  They gave us cherry tomatoes dipped in chocolate!  That is special.  They also gave us chocolate dipped strawberries.  Thank you girls!

Response Needed:

- Loving San Jose:  This Sunday, we are going out to the community to love them and share Christ's love in practical ways.  I have challenged the youth to serve in different projects that they are interested in.  As of now some youth are going to wash cars and some are going to clean yards at the Heritage Home.  The whole point of breaking them up is to allow them to meet other people within our church.  In addition, I want them to choose a service project that is more suited for their gifting or strength.  If your youth has not signed-up for a project, we can still get them connected to one on Sunday.  For more information check out the Loving San Jose page on our website.

Upcoming Events:
- Planet Wisdom: TOMORROW.  Here is the information from the email I sent out earlier this week.
am looking forward to Planet Wisdom this weekend in Brentwood.  I think this will be a great time for the youth to connect with each other and to be with other youth around the state that love the Lord.  Please be praying that the youth are challenged in their faith, we have fun, they feel comfortable enough to share what they are experiencing, worship is meaningful, and for Lis and I as we spend time with the students.
