Student Ministry Weekly Update May 24th - 30th
May 28, 2009
Parents,
This last Sunday, Joel Kimsey continued our series "Searching for the Truth" on Hinduism. Joel has been leading college students on summer trips to Kolkata (Calcutta), India for the past six years. Joel did a great job sharing with our students.
Joel shared the history, belief, and gods of Hinduism. We also learned some new words: dharma, karma, veda, Brahmans. In addition, Joel showed pictures of Devi, mother goddess, Ganesha, clearer away of life's obstacles, Shiva, the destroyer, and Kali, goddess of death and destruction.
For the youth, seeing the world through this one belief system was somewhat confusing and seemed irrational. They had questions concerning the vagueness of Hindu belief and the unclarity of religious rituals.
