This Week at The MInistry Center 7/15/2008
Jul 15, 2008
I've been a blogging machine. Here's one more to add to the queue. . .
This has been an eventful week at The River. We had our first service together at Westminster Presbyterian. It was good to be together in the afternoon, sweating out our praise. Big kudos go to Kristy Take for coordinating our all-church dinners following the service. It was great to see the room abuzz with food and fellowship. We had many more people than we expected so praise God that the food held out!
Brad is working on the final message of our Ephesians series "Fighting for What is Most Treasured." We are also continuing to work on the planning process for Ministry Year 2009, which begins in September.
Attached below are the announcements from this past Sunday in case you missed them. I've also added two notes on parking and dinner as we look ahead to next week:
(from Angela)
We had an exciting first service at Westminster Pres this past Sunday! As we continue to meet there for the next several weeks, we want to make the place as hospitable and easily accessible as possible for families and new-comers. SO, if you are a regular attender without children, we're asking if you could park on one of the side streets near the church or across the Alameda in the Downtown College Prep parking lot (they are located next to Blockbuster, you can enter the lot from Lenzen Ave). Thank you so much!
DINNER LOGISTICS
We are revising our dinner logistics to speed food distribution and make things run more smoothly. We will also be encouraging everyone to reach out to unfamiliar faces. Let's take this opportunity to grow as family together and to welcome newcomers in our midst!
SUNDAY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Dinner after service in Fireside Room
- Everyone is welcome immediately after service to join us for dinner as a church family.
- Every week for next 7 weeks while we're at Westminster, we will be offering dinner in the Fireside Room. We've catered the food, but the desserts are provided by small groups members.
- This week we thank the Valentine and Manley small groups for providing desserts. Also BIG thanks to Kristy Takei for organizing these meals.
- You can get to the Fireside Room by exiting the door to my left...
Welcome/Connecting
- If you are new, and have questions about the church, please ask any of Connecting Hosts or staff members wearing a blue River lanyard and nametag.
- The Connecting Table is now located directly outside the Sanctuary. There is free Peet's coffee and tea out there.
- There is also information out there about a couple events going on this week at Westminster Presbyterian Church which they have invited us to participate in - a VBS that begins tomorrow (7/14) and a Community Art Night on July 24.
