This Week at the Ministry Center 7/29/08

Hello River People!

Hope you are enjoying mid-summer!  It has continued to be subdued here at the Ministry Center as several folks are out of town.  Tony has continued to meet with people like a madman. He's also initiated some spontaneous "meet your neighbor" activity.  He and I walked around and introduced ourselves to the manager of the apartment tower nearby, as well as several businesses on 1st street.

David continues to enjoy leading the Men's group.  He reports that the men are really honest and open and it makes leading the group very easy.

We introduced Tony Traback as the new pastor of mission mobilization.  If you missed it, you can read more about his bio here.

Heads up:  The Honduras ICE team is having a reception after church next Sunday (August 3).  Grab dinner and join them in room E-220 for a report on everything that they experienced this year.

Here are the announcements from this past Sunday, in case you missed them:

Honduras Reception

  • The Honduras team has returned from another successful ICE trip.
  • You're invited to come hear their stories and see their pictures at their team reception next week.
  • After church on August 3rd, they'll be presenting on their experience and answering any questions.
  • You'll be able to grab your dinner and bring it into room E-220 for the reception. Please join us!

 

Dinner after service in Fireside Room

  • We've had a wonderful turnout these last few Sundays for dinner. Join us this week for yummy chicken wings from Wing Stop!
  • We have some tables set up outside which should help the temperature
  • I would encourage you to take this opportunity to sit with someone you don't know as well. For those of you who have been at the church for a while, seek out an unfamiliar face and extend hospitality to them
  • Please let families with small children go through the food line first

 

Welcome/Connecting

  • If you are new, and have questions about the church, please ask any of Connecting Hosts or staff members wearing a blue River lanyard and nametag.
  • The Connecting Table is now located directly outside the Sanctuary.

  • One table located up front

 

Return Fans at the door

  • Please return your awesome River hand fans at the door so we can have them available these next several Sundays while we're here at Westminster.
