Hello River Peoples!

Hope you are having a good Thanksgiving week!

Angela and Krista-Dawn are putting the finishing touches on the Advent Retreat.  David, Brad, Tony, and Michelle are also preparing their contributions.

Angela also recently started a new small group with her husband Steve and David and Jocelyn Auyeung.  There are several other small groups starting up as well - Janet Balisiri is leading another new group.  Contact Michelle Manley if you'd like more information.

Brad and his family are off to Washington DC to visit the Martins.

Announcements from Sunday 11/24

Advent Retreat

  • The Advent Retreat is almost here! The theme of the retreat is Waiting and we will be looking at waiting through the lenses of various characters in the Bible (Simeon, Anna, Mary, Elizabeth, Jairus, Ruth, David).
  • Contributing to the retreat this year will be the Pastoral staff (David, Brad, Tony, Michelle) and some lay leaders (Chris Maitz, K.C. Yatsko, Janet Yang, Jeannie Traback, Jamie Wolf, Lawrence Luk). 
  • At the retreat, there will also be opportunity for people to receive one-on-one spiritual direction by Mark P-H, Michelle, and Jill. Spots are filling up fast so sign up this week!!!

Advent Family Service

  • Next Sunday will be quarterly family service. There will be no Kids’ Community as the kids will be with us here in the ballroom!
  • Our Kids’ Community Pastor Jill Bekaert will be leading us through a lesson on what it means to prepare ourselves for the coming of the King. This is a timely lesson given that next Sunday is also the first Sunday of Advent.
  • Just as you plan to spend this Thursday celebrating Thanksgiving with your family, we hope you make plans to spend next Sunday with us as a church family.


Welcome Eduardo Lucas Jones!

  • Speaking of family, we want to welcome a new addition to our River family.
  • Eduardo was born in Guatemala in September 2007 and was adopted last month by Lorna Jones.
