This Week at The River Ministry Center 9/17/2008

Sep 17, 2008

Hello Everyone,

We had a great lunch with over thirty San Jose State students this past Sunday. Krista-Dawn introduced them to The River and we brainstormed outreach ideas together. It's great to have the students with us!

Brad, Krista-Dawn and Angela have been hard at work on the next teaching series which will focus on worship and how worship shapes our reality. The first message in the series is this coming Sunday and the series will run for six weeks.

Brad and Krista-Dawn are also taking short mini-retreats this week. Brad is attending a retreat hosted by Wellspring, a ministry to Christian leaders. Krista-Dawn is taking a couple of days for rest and reflection. Please pray that they would be refreshed in their time away.

David began the "Changes that Heal" book study this past Monday. Many people are eager to dig into this practically helpful book. The group is open to anyone who wants to join - meetings are Monday nights at 7pm.

Kyle started the guys and girls small groups this past Sunday. Twice a month, the youth are having lunch and meeting in small groups. Thanks to Steve Aviles, Kristy Takei, and Amy Guerrero for their service as small group leaders!

Tony and I hosted visitors from our partner Partners International last week. They oversee Partners efforts in North Africa. We and the staff had a wonderful time of getting to know them and their ministry. Dave Cullom, who is the Giving Team's liaison to Partners was also able to meet them. We hope to have a briefing page about our partnership with Partners up on the website soon and plan on providing quarterly updates.

There are several new stories on The River's website!  Check them out at www.the-river.org.

No announcements from Sunday this week.
