The River Church Community

Hello Everyone!

Hope your fall and school is off to a good start!  Here at The Ministry Center we are focused on getting ready for our Leadership Community Retreat which begins this Friday.  We are looking forward to a rich time together and have high hopes for how it will spur us on towards peacemaking and unity.  Brad and Mark are working hard to prepare their messages and Jill has been coordinating a full weekend of childcare for the children.

David is preparing to lead our first church-wide Intercessory Prayer Meeting tonight at the Ministry Center.  He also is preparing for a book study on Henry Cloud's book Changes That Heal which begins this coming Monday, September 15.

Kyle had a good meeting with parents this past Sunday.  He presented the plan, calendar, and themes for the coming year and invited parents into co-owning ministry with him.  Last week the students enjoyed a Hillsongs United concert.

I enjoyed our first BudgetWatchers meeting!  We had a great conversation and I'm looking forward to our journey of accountability and encouragement.

Donna and Angela are working on two large banners which we will post outside of our ministry center.  The banners will invite passerby to our Sunday Services at San Jose State.

Stacy is working hard to close our fiscal year.

New River website

• This new site allows us on staff to regularly post stories, news information, ministry updates and other info that we hope you will enjoy and help you feel more connected to what is going on at the church.
  
• There are also several blogs you can read on the website now as well… Tony’s Missional Stories blog, River staff blog, and a weekly Celebration blog called “Immerse Yourself” where you can find information about our Sunday service content such as message synopsis, worship responses, worship set list, etc.

Luncheon for SJSU students

• SJSU students - You are invited to celebrate a new school year with us at The River
  
• There will be a luncheon on Sunday, Sept. 14th
from Noon -1:00 pm where we will provide free food and a short opportunity for you to learn what the River is all about. We would also love to hear your ideas of what a church could do on your campus.
