Update from the Geoghegans - Pathology Report 9/29/08
Sep 29, 2008

Good Morning Angel Helpers,
The findings of the pathology of the section they were able to remove from Hannah Jane's brain is a slow growing benign tumor; praise God for this finding of benign!
We are not clear what "slow growing" means and will have an in depth meeting tomorrow instead of today to determine more info on this, but wanted to get you updated with what we do know. Dr Edwards had to leave some of the tumor because it was too close to her healthy brain tissue.
The tumor was in the 3rd ventricle arising from the adjacent left thalamus or hypothalamus. There was some glial tissue and acute hemorrage: will get clarification on this and let you know as well.
Her MRI didn't end up being done yesterday, but should be today. Also will find out how long she needs to stay on phenobarbital for seizure prevention. Increased lifetime risk of fever induced seizures now that she's had some, will get more clarification on this too.
She will need regular MRIs and neuro visits to monitor and be sure that the tumor doesn't grow and block the ventricles again.
WE ARE REJOICING IN THIS BLESSED NEWS; plesae keep on praying for Hannah Jane to awaken more and more and feed regularly, for good outcome of MRI. She won't be able to return home until she starts gaining weight and eating well.
We are SO thankful for each and everyone of you, your prayers and encouragement!
XO,
Hannah Jane's Mommy

Precious Hannah Jane is waking a bit now when daddy and I gently stimulated her for 2 feedings. She still has nose tube for some, but this is blessed progress! We hold her now and talk with her while she sleeps in our arms. Prayers are being answered; thank you all! We miss you and feel your love; we are praying for you too may God encourage those of you we know are in difficult times: may you feel the Holy Spirit comfort you. Rest your worries in Him, He will restore you.
Xo
