Tony Traback joined staff as the Pastor of Community Impact in April of 2008.  Tony’s charge is to mobilize our church to serve the local community through small groups, as a congregation in the downtown context, and internationally through ICE trips.  Tony reflects, “I want us to embody God's grace, compassion and justice as a church.  I want us to love God and our neighbor, because in all honesty, the rest is just commentary."

Tony graduated from Claremont Mckenna College and holds a Masters in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary.  After college, he worked with the Peace Corps in rural Kenya where he lived in a rural village and taught about HIV/AIDS and basic business skills.  After returning from Kenya, Tony worked with incarcerated teenagers struggling with drug and alcohol addiction at Advent Group Ministries as a live-in counselor and staff supervisor.  Prior to coming to The River, Tony worked as the Youth Director at the Presbyterian Church of San Martin while he completed his degree from Fuller.

Tony enjoys exploring other countries, reading, nature, cooking, and gardening.  Tony and his wife Jeannie live in downtown San Jose.
