Nathan arrived at The River in October of 2025 to serve as the Transitional Lead Pastor. During a time of pastoral change, a Transitional Lead Pastor seeks to discover where God is leading a church, and then works with the congregation and leadership to graciously guide the community toward that path.

He comes to The River through VitalChurch Ministry, an organization dedicated to helping churches thrive by providing clarity, purpose, and hope. Prior to his arrival, Nathan spent over two decades in ministry, assisting churches across the country through their transitions in various capacities.

Nathan is passionate about transitional ministry because he believes it is a unique and sacred time in the life of the church—a season where a congregation grows its dependency on God and faithfully follows Him through what can often be a challenging process.

Nathan has been married to his wife, Jennie, since 2006. In his free time, Nathan enjoys hiking, going to the theater and museums, traveling, and playing strategy games. He also loves finding new, unique culinary and cultural experiences wherever he and Jennie go.
