board updates

A season of transition

Our church has undergone many seasons since our founding in 1997. But the ethos of The River continues to be the same at the core as we evolved through the years. This is because God was the author of The River twenty-eight years ago, and God is still the author and leader of our church. He was faithful then, and will be faithful now, and into the future.

In this particular season of transition, we urge each River member to adopt a regular rhythm of prayer for our church. This prayer card is meant to help orient our hearts to the good purposes of God.

Board member Tom Tsao provided an update regarding staff transitions during service on Sunday, April 6th, which you can listen to here. The board will be providing periodic updates on Sunday mornings, through our email distribution list, and on this web page.

Task force formation

To help with the upcoming transitions, the Board is forming 3 Task Forces. The Board will be actively recruiting for wise people with the right gifts and skill sets to join these task forces over the next few weeks.

Lead Pastor Search Task Force

This task force is responsible for fielding lead pastor candidates and will ultimately recommend a candidate for Lead Pastor to the Board of Directors.  Board contacts for this task force are Chris Maitz and Grant Jenks.

Children's Ministry Pastor or Director Search Task Force

This task force is responsble for fielding candidates to lead our chlidren's ministry. Board contact for this task force is Chris Maitz.

Transitional Support Task Force

The Transitional Support Task Force is formed to provide a team of skilled individuals to work directly with the staff and volunteers to provide support while they keep the church's many logistical functions operating well during this transitional period. Board contact for this task force is Michelle Albertson.

Board Member Nominations

We are actively seeking nominations for 3-4 more board members from amongst River Partners. Nominate a board member using this form.

You can learn more about our church's governing structure, and the responsibilities of the board, by reading our constitution and bylaws here.

May 4th Town Hall Meeting

At 12:45 PM on Sunday, May 4th, we'll host a town hall for all church attendees to learn more about the task forces and next steps for the transition. If you are a River Partner, there will be the opportunity to vote on the lead pastor search task force.
